The Organic Cotswolds Shepherds Hut

Tucked in my lovely orchard is this cosy, beautifully appointed little shepherds hut which is very well insulated. With a very comfy organic mattress, organic sheets. And a wood burner.

I have another Airbnb listing on the same property, in case you need to accommodate more people on your trip. It is The Cotswolds Organic Cowshed and is a one bedroom but can sleep 4 with a sofa bed.

The Shepherds Hut is 14' long x 8' wide. It is a single space. Inside there is a double bed and a (yet to be built) fold out table under the bigger window and a couple of stools to sit and eat.

There is a Sage BOV820BSS Smart Oven Pro and a single induction hob plus an electric kettle. There is a pot and frying pan, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Cups plates bowls etc also.

There is no fridge in the hut but there is a good size ice box and ice will be available. However there is a small fridge in the nearby stables.

There is a compost toilet a short walk from the hut with automatic lights on the outside and inside. The compost toilet has a small sink to wash your hands.

Behind the compost toilet is a propane gas heated hot water outdoor shower. For those who may prefer their creature comforts there is a traditional indoor shower in the comfort of the stable room.

Guests are welcome to use the picnic table, reclining chairs and cook on the fire pit in the orchard, although the fire pit is shared by guests from my other listing 'The Cotswolds Organic Cowshed'.

Mobile service is not great in the area of the hut. Although the wifi is good and with wifi calling you will be able to make calls, FaceTime, Zoom etc.

There is a footpath that goes through our property (not close to the cowshed though) that leads directly to the famous Cotswolds Way, the 102-mile long-distance footpath that attracts a lot of tourists from all over the world every year. So you can leave the cowshed and walk straight to the Cotswold Way without going near a road.

If you are a not walker....we are quite 'out in the sticks' but not too far from civilisation. I recommend coming by car. Some guests have come by taxi but it's quite pricey to get around because there are no nearby taxi firms. Buses are few and far between and the nearest bus stop is half a mile down a road with no sidewalks. Uber is beginning to be more available here.

Painswick is lovely and about 3.5 miles away. Beautiful Cotswolds town with lovely church. Fabulous hotel called the Painswick Hotel to get amazing cream teas or a meal or drink.

Cranham is our nearest village and the Black Horse pub which does good food is walkable (1.7 miles by car, but a shorter distance to walk via Buckholt Woods)

The other nearby pubs worth noting are The Woolpack, (Slad), Fostons Ash (The Camp), The Butchers Arms (Sheepscombe) and The Oak (Painswick). All these do good food. The Oak and Butchers Arms are more traditional pub fare - the others have more interesting menus - in my opinion.

Tescos Extra in Brockworth is the nearest big supermarket. There's a Premier convenience store in Painswick.

It is a quiet and peaceful spot about 10 mins walk to the Cotswolds Way and about 15 mins walk to the infamous Cheese Rolling Hill at Coopers Hill.
